Wi-Fi Repeater/Extender lets you extend the Wi-Fi to every part of your house.
This can done by using any of the following options,
- Power line Wi-Fi extension kit
- Wireless repeater.
Wi-Fi extension kit comes with a set of power line adapters which plug into the wall socket and extend the connection through the internal wiring of the house. One adapter needs to plugged near the router and connected to it by a patch cord. The other adapters can be plugged to any power outlet in the house to extend the internet connection and use it through cable or wirelessly.
These offer great wireless speeds and are considered more reliable then wireless repeaters.
Wireless repeater picks up the wireless signal from an existing router or access point and repeats it. This repeated signal can either have the same Wi-Fi name (SSID) or a different name (Mostly preferred). Hence you can place a repeater at optimum points (Place where you receive at least 60% of signal from the main router) and repeat the signal further. However there is a reduction in throughput because each frame is received and retransmitted. This issue is solved by using Wi-Fi extenders or access points.
Best use for small home and office environments.
