SSID(Service Set Identifiers)is the unique name which identifies a given Wi-Fi network.
Whenever you SCAN for wireless networks, its actually the SSID which appears on the list of available networks on your phone or laptop. Some Wi-Fi routers also use multiple SSIDs which allow connection to different networks.
Things to remember about SSIDs,
- They are case sensitive characters, DLINK and dlink are two different SSIDs.
- Maximum length of SSID is 32 alphanumeric characters.
- SSID broadcast can be disabled, which sort of hides your network.
